De-registration of unlicensed vehicles

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, The Zimbabwe National Road dministration (ZINARA) and The Central Vehicle Registry (CVR) would like to inform the motoring ublic that all vehicles that have not been licensed for a period exceeding two years will be de-registered from the CVR Database.

Terms Of The Vehicle Registration and Licensing Act Chapter 13:14, section 12, paragraphs c) and (d) which states that:

The Registrar:
(c) may, if according to his records a registered vehicle has not been licensed or exempted for a period exceeding two years; or
(d) may, if he has reasonable grounds for believing that a registered vehicle is no longer required to be registered in terms of section six; cancel the registration of the vehicle concerned.

Also In Terms Of The Vehicle Registration and Licensing Regulations, Statutory Instrument 427 of 1999. Paragraph 20

ONCE a vehicle has been de-registered, its re-registration will include the submission of:

  • Certificate of Roadworthiness from the Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID).
  • Police Clearance.
  • Re-registration fees of US$ 160.00 for motor vehicles and USD $140.00 for motorcycles and or trailers at CVR only.
  • Settlement of outstanding ZINARA vehicle license arrears.

To Avoid de-registration of your vehicles, we appeal to our valued motoring public to comply by ensuring that their affected vehicles are properly licensed during the window period running prior to or from Saturday 01 November 2014 to Sunday 30 November 2014.

Failure to comply within the above dates will result in the de-registration of your vehicle from the CVR Database.
